"One Thousand Acts of Decency" Released!

It's Released!

It's been very graciously revealed to me that a Devlog would help my followers find my game more conveniently, so I'm posting one now. As you've probably gathered, my Visual Novel, One Thousand Acts of Decency, was released a few nights ago. The entire first case, which is about four hours long, is now available to be played completely for free! You can read a more comprehensive description on my VN's main page, but to sum it up briefly, it's a deductive reasoning game set in a dystopian version of Cleveland, where the solution to the murder epidemic is to trap the killer (and anyone in the vicinity) in a giant Dome. After being trapped, the only way out is for the group to come to a consensus as to who the guilty party is. Oh, and they're on an eight hour time limit, but as of yet, the penalty for running out of time is unknown to the cast of characters. If that interests you, the first case is freely available and'll drop you right into the action!

Going Forward

Believe it or not, there's actually a LOT more done on the visual novel than just the first case. Eagle-eyed viewers might've noticed some screenshots and trailer clips don't seem to be from the Apartment Building that the first case occurs in: this is because there are actually two other cases complete, but with an asterisk. Strictly speaking, Case 2 and Case 4 are complete- it's fully functioning from start to finish, and everything in between. Where that pesky asterisk comes in, however, is that they both need some reworking. Case 2 needs some slight restructuring, but Case 4 needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, unfortunately. My plan is to do a bit more visual polishing on Case 1, and then get Case 2 restructured to my liking.

Additionally, I'm thinking of doing a bi-weekly devlog, just covering what I've accomplished since the previous devlog. I'll do my best to keep those spoiler free, of course, but bear in mind that they will show you some of the up-coming characters and locations, and could convey vague information about the circumstances behind what crime is being investigated.

What Else?

Well, the last thing I want to say is that I'm extremely grateful for every single one of you who're following me, playing my game, or even just reading this devlog! I'm beyond excited for people to play and experience my game, so I'm always open for hearing your comments, critiques, questions, or anything else, really! I'm always happy to read comments, DMs, or whatever from people with thoughts on what I've made- I daresay it's one of my favorite parts of this whole process! Before I sign off, I want to share my Twitter account, where I post updates on my game once in a while (a few every week.) as well as some art! Before I work on the final cut of Case 2, I wanted to remake most of the character sprites in Case 1 (everyone aside from Oscar, basically,) just to make sure it's in a state I have absolutely no reservations about. Below, I have a before-and-after of RJ's silly pose. The older one was from February of 2023, as opposed to the newer one I finished just today on January 20th of 2024. Oh, where did the time go?

Anyways, the RJ's are below- have a great rest of your day, and I'll see you in the next Devlog!!
